Ham Glaze Recipe

From the Kitchen of Cheryl Qualls

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 2 tablespoons fruit juice (orange, lemon, apple whatever you have)
  • whole cloves

Directions

  • Ham is already fully cooked. To heat it through to serving temperature without drying out the roast, I wrap the ham securely in heavy aluminum foil and heat approximately two hours in the oven at 325 degrees. For a fancy "look" to your ham, take a sharp knife and score the ham in a cross-hatch pattern about 1/2 " deep. Then stick a whole clove in each of the "squares" before heating.
  • To glaze the ham, remove the foil wrapping and turn the oven up to 450 degrees. Mix the brown sugar, dry mustard and fruit juice together in a small bowl and drizzle or brush all over the ham. Return to the oven for 10 to 15 minutes for the glaze to set.
  • Let the ham "rest" about 10 minutes before carving to keep the roast juicy.
