Apple Betty

Ingredients

  • 3# bag of apples (McIntosh or Granny Smith are good) peeled, cored, and sliced in medium slices
  • 1/4 cup orange juice or juice of one lemon
  • 1 cup sugar (white or brown your choice)
  • 3/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup quick cooking oatmeal
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup butter


Directions

  • Place prepared apples in a buttered 9x13 glass pan and sprinkle the top with the orange or lemon juice.
  • Combine sugar, flour, spices, and a dash of salt; cut in butter till mixture is crumbly; sprinkle over apples.
  • Bake at 375 for 45 minutes or till apples are tender and topping is crisp. Serve warm with ice cream. Serves 6.
